Head Coach: John Murtaugh (7th year)
Last Year’s Accomplishment: Boys North 1, Group 2 Sectional Title
Key Returners: Patrick Kurtz (Sr.), Marc Monti (Jr.), Ellie Buchanan (Jr.), Sofia Alepa (Jr.)
Key Newcomers: Marcus Koshy (So.), Johnny Allmers (Sr.), Michael Giordano (Sr.)
Key Losses: Anthony Sileo, Aaron Ng, Chris Martino, Jay Ramirez, Connor Oates, and Michael Pizzella
Strength of the team: “One of our strengths is the incredible bond that the kids have with each other,” Murtaugh said. “The top three [Kurtz, Monti, Koshy] have been working with and encouraging the [other] runners who will make up varsity.”
Weakness of Team: [Cross Country] is looking to the upperclassmen to lead the team this season, as there is a lack of underclassmen depth.
Outlook on the Season: “Our outlook remains as it always has: stay healthy and be competitive,” Murtaugh said. “If you follow the workouts provided by the coaches, you can take stock in that and hit the ground running.”
Coach’s Comment: “It is always a challenge to open a season after having a successful one the year before,” Coach Murtaugh said. “Coaches Koch and Grier share the same philosophy about each season. We keep our goals attainable and our expectations of their efforts realistic. If the athletes do the work, they will see the positive results.”
