Senior creates college decision video featuring parents
Senior Lauren Bell wanted to commemorate her fellow classmates and express her gratitude to the parents of the Class of 2020 despite not being able to celebrate National College Decision Day on May 1.
As an alternative, she created a video of parents saying a message to their children that was published on Wednesday.
“My mom has been telling me all the things that the parents [of the Class of 2020] have been doing for us,” Bell said. “They created a Facebook group and they’re figuring out ways to give us prom and graduation. They’re doing so much work for us, so I thought that I could do something for them so that their kids could be surprised.”
To get parents involved with the video, Bell had her mother send a comment to the senior parents Facebook group. Bell requested a 20 second clip, as well as a baby picture and a current photo of their child.
“I loved how parents were so involved,” Bell said. “All the parents were so nice, and they came together. I honestly [was shocked] to get so many responses. The night that my mom posted [the message], there was only one video, and then it turned into five videos every couple minutes, and then it was 10.”
Bell said that parents were trying to “make up the void” for seniors not being able to celebrate decision day, and she appreciates the efforts of the parents to make the Class of 2020’s last year memorable.
“[The video] has just brought everyone together, and it made everyone feel better for what we have,” Bell said. “It’s almost like the ending to our story at Pascack Valley.”
