Golf: Match vs. Old Tappan at River Vale Country Club
Pascack Valley: 171, Old Tappan: 181
After a rainy morning, the sun came out, and Valley was able to play its golf match against Old Tappan. The team competed, but fell in a nailbiter, 171 to 181. The low scorer for Valley was Will Gallagher, who shot a 42, followed by Rob Carcich who shot a 4, and Calvin Ralph, who shot a 46. Now, 2-3, Valley is hopeful to build off of this promising performance.
Tennis: Boys Varsity Match at Pascack Valley High School
The Pascack Valley boys tennis team’s woes continued, after suffering four losses to Mahwah. In the first singles match, Austin Davis had a dominating performance, winning the first set 6-2, then burying his opponent in the second set with a 6-1 win. Alex Robinson and Jeremy Collier, however, did not see the same success, suffering first set losses of 4-6 and 0-6, followed by second set defeats of 4-6 and 2-6, respectively. In doubles, Josh Cohn and Alec Corring fell victim 4-6 in the first set and 3-6 in the second set. Jordan Lauber and Ethan Zindel did not fare much better, not winning one game in the first set, but put up a fight in the second set only to fall short 5-7.
Baseball:
The varsity baseball game was postponed due to rain, and PV will take on Bergenfield at home on on Thursday, April 14.
Lacrosse: Boys Game Vs. Demarest at Pascack Valley
Pascack Valley: 10, Demarest: 11
Valley suffered a heartbreaking loss in OT to Demarest, losing 11-10. The game began on a high note, as Mike Soravilla and Jimmy Spillane scored, giving Valley a 2-0 lead. Mike Soravilla scored again to put Valley up by 3, only for Demarest to come storming back with 3 goals. Before the half, Keith Doherty scored, followed by Demarest, tying the game at 4. To begin the second half, Demarest had a quick goal, as well as Valley’s Conor Kimball. Jimmy Spillane scored his second goal of the afternoon, and with 8.2 seconds left in the third, Demarest tied it at 6, leaving Jimmy Spillane one second to score his third goal, providing Valley with the 1 point edge. This same pattern continued, and with 58.8 seconds left, Jimmy Spillane netted his fourth and final goal, leaving Valley with a temporary edge. This sensational game would not end, and with 6 seconds left, Valley conceded to tie the game. In OT, with 1:21 left, Demarest found the back of the net, upsetting Valley 11-10. The Valley boys lax team is now 4-1 this season, and hope to continue its success and build off of this defeat.
