Baseball: Game vs. Bergenfield postponed to Tuesday, April 12
Friday: Old Tappan 4, PV 2
PV’s two runs were both batted in by junior Matt Novakowski in the third inning. Junior pitcher Nick Verost recorded 5 strikeouts in 5 innings in his first outing of the season, but let up four runs in a shortened game due to the weather.
Saturday’s orginally scheduled game vs. Wayne Hills was postponed
Softball: Game vs. Bergenfield postponed to Tuesday, April 5
Friday: Old Tappan 12, PV 1
PV’s lone run was batted in during the fourth inning, but they were already down ten runs at that point. Old Tappan scored another two runs in the fifth inning to end the game.
Saturday’s orginally scheduled game vs. Passaic County Technical Institute postponed
Boys Lax:
Saturday: PV 13, Fair Lawn 5
PV’s victory on a rainy Saturday morning was led by the team’s seniors. Seniors Jack Smolen and Jimmy Spillane scored four goals each, and senior teammates Mike Soravilla and Nick Stevens also each added two. Junior Connor Kimball netted one in the high scoring win.
Girls Lax:
Friday: PV 9, Wayne Hills 8
With 42 seconds left in the game, PV leading by a goal, the lightning alarm went off forcing a 2-hour delay. Once the players returned to the field, the final 42 seconds were played, the PV defense prevented the tying goal, resulting in a PV victory. The leading goal scorer was senior Shannon Solotar, with three. Senior Natalie Bade and sophomore Jenny LaRocca also added goals.
