Before discussing season three of Squid Games, created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, let’s review some key plot points from the first two seasons.

Season 1 Recap:
Squid Game is a South Korean survival drama about a group of people who compete in deadly games for a chance to win a large sum of money. The games are based on children’s games, but they are deadly. The main character, Seong Gi-hun, wins the games but is traumatized by the experience.

Key points throughout the season: Gi-hun (456) forms alliances with Sae-byeok (067), Sang-woo (218), Il-nam (001), and others in order to survive. Then, a different side of Sang-woo (218) is revealed. He betrays allies such as Sae-byeok (067). Gi-hun realizes his friend will do anything to win.
A major plot twist in season 1 is the revelation that Oh Il-nam (001), the elderly man believed to be just another participant, is actually the mastermind behind the games. He participated out of boredom and curiosity about human nature.
Season 2 Recap:
Squid Game Season 2 is a thrilling continuation of the popular Korean drama. Seong Gi-hun, the winner of the deadly games, returns to infiltrate and dismantle the organization behind them. He faces new challenges and unexpected twists, including a betrayal by a trusted ally. The season ends with Gi-hun captured and the games set to continue, leaving viewers eager for the next installment.
Five Predictions for Season 3:
- VIPs return: The VIPs, introduced in Season 1 as spectators betting on players, were absent in Season 2. They may return in Season 3 to escalate the stakes or for another reason.
- The Front Man’s reveal to Gi-hun: The Front Man will reveal his true identity to Gi-hun, causing Gi-hun to feel betrayed and hopeless. Gi-hun will return to the game area, more determined than ever to escape alive and end the games.
- Captain Park’s Ambushed: Captain Park, exposed as a traitor, will be ambushed by other team members when they discover his connection to the games.
- Confrontation Between Jun-ho and In-ho: Another intense showdown between the brothers Jun-ho and In-ho is likely. This confrontation could include a deep emotional dialogue, ending with one of them dying.
