‘Student-led Movement of Unity’ planned for Wednesday
A ‘student-led Movement of Unity’ is set to take place in the morning Wednesday, Nov. 21, around 8:45 a.m. This is not a walkout as to avoid making the movement political, according to Vice President of PV’s Executive Council Sean Oh.
Students who participate will walk up to the track and, according to Executive Council President Ryan Novakowski, they will create a heart and those who don’t fit in the heart will line the rest of the track. This will not take place of Valley Cup on Wednesday.
Oh said that this idea was brought up during the open meeting on Thursday, Nov. 15 and was approved by PV Principal Tom DeMaio the following day.
Speeches and a poem will be read as well at the event and the choir will be performing “Imagine” by John Lennon. Alumni and people outside of Pascack Valley High School will be invited, Oh says.
Executive Council encourages those who wish to participate in the movement to dress in green and white the day of to show an additional sense of unity throughout the school.
“Even if this issue doesn’t concern you directly, it should still concern you because we are all apart of the [PV] community,” Oh said.
