Successful swimming season ends abruptly
The Pascack Valley swim team’s season has come to and abrupt and quite unexpected end this past week.
Both boys and girls lost this previous Monday facing tough competition.
The girls faced Montclair, and unfortunately lost 92-78 when it was all said and done.
“We knew it was going to be a fight,” said coach Courtney Farrell about the meet.
Despite a rough overall meet, Valley did have successes, namely a first place finish from Haleigh Marzano in the 50 free, a first place finish from Cassie Freeman in the 100 butterfly, Marzano once again finishing 2nd in the 100 backstroke and a relatively new face in Lauren Parisi finishing 3rd.
“That was really tough because she was going up against some of the best competitors and she had one of her best times,” Farrell said about Parisi’s performance.
The boys lost as well, with a final score of 111-59, against Passaic Technical County Institute, notorious for performing well in the pool, season after season
Captain Eli O’Connor swam well this past Monday, getting 1st place finishes in both the 50 free and the 100 breast. Additionally, Jimmy Spillane finished 1st in the 100 butter fly. Finally, the boys finished 2nd in the 200 medley relay, with contributors of Eli O’conor, Jimmy Spillane, and Sean Kim.
The Valley swim team season has officially ended for both the boys and girls, and both of whom enjoyed successful seasons.
Robert Saul graduated in 2019.
