On Feb. 3, 2025, Trevor Noah hosted the 67th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony.
Noah opened the show with a speech about the wildfires in the Los Angeles area and asked people to donate to MusiCares (a non-profit organization that is helping musicians impacted by the fires). Many of the commercials highlighted small businesses affected by the fires.
The first performance of the night was an ensemble version of Randy Newman’s song “I Love LA” performed by Sherly Crow, Brittany Howard, St. Vincent, Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith, Bradley Paisley, and John Legend.
A wide variety of musicians and artists were present and active in the ceremonies of the night.
Doechii
The first award given out was for Best Rap Album. The award was given to Doechii, making her the third woman to ever win the award since its introduction in 1989.
Afterward, Doechii performed her two hit songs “Catfish” and “Denial Is A River” from her album “Alligator Bites Never Heal.”
Sabrina Carpenter
Sabrina Carpenter, nominated for six Grammys, performed a more classical version of her song “Espresso” as well as “Please Please Please.”
“Espresso” earned Carpenter her first Grammy for Pop Solo Performance.
Carpenter also took home Best Pop Vocal Album for “Short ’n Sweet.”
Chappell Roan
Olivia Rodrigo introduced Chappell Roan’s Grammy performance. Roan brought the Midwest to Los Angeles with her rodeo-esque performance of “Pink Pony Club.”
Later in the night, Roan took home her first Grammy: Best New Artist.
The Weekend
For some, The Weekend’s return to the Grammys’ stage was shocking because he had previously boycotted the ceremonies.
He performed the songs “Cry For Me” and “Timeless” from his brand new album, “Hurry Up Tomorrow.”
Beyoncé
Beyoncé won Best Country Album for Cowboy Carter, making history as the first black woman to ever win this award.
Winning twice, Beyoncé was the most nominated artist of the night with 11 nominations.
Beyoncé won the final award of the night, Album of the Year. The award was presented by members of the Los Angeles Fire Department, who were met with a standing ovation — underscoring a night of celebration and community.
