Track teams open season in Ridgewood

This past Saturday, Pascack Valley boys and girls track competed in the Pawlowski Relays at Ben Franklin Middle School in Ridgewood.

The boys team, who placed in four events, performed well. Junior Jeff Roberts lead the team, with two personal records in the longest leg of the sprint medley, the 800m, and the 400m, in the 4 by 400 relay. The boys sprint medley relay, consisting of Jeff Roberts, Sean Keohane, Evan Jones, and Kevin Dougherty placed first. In the 4 by 400 relay, Jones, Roberts, and Keohane, along with sophomore Casey Lewis finished second.

The girls team, who placed in five events, also had many great moments throughout the event. The girls sprint medley relay group, made up of Abby Lee, Nikki Criscuolo, Ashley Evans, and Jodie Hoffman placed second overall. The 4 by 400 team, consisting of Lee, Criscuolo, Evans, and senior Jess Himmelman placed fourth.

Some newcomers, like junior Jennie McCabe and sophomores Lauren Hussey and Alex Lin also began their set a high bar for themselves this season.

Seniors Evan Jones and Abby Lee also announced this past week that they would continue their running careers in their prospective colleges. Jones will be running for Ithaca College and Lee will be running and also playing volleyball for Shippensburg University.

The next meet is scheduled for this Wednesday, April 6 at home, at 4 p.m. against Northern Valley Regional Old Tappan, after being postponed due to weather on Monday.
