Tri-M Music Honor Society hosts Valentine’s Day Music Gram fundraiser
The Tri-M Music Honor Society hosted its first Valentine’s Day Music Gram fundraiser on Monday, Feb. 14. Students from the music department visited classrooms and performed music for their peers and teachers for five dollars.
“There was an email to the whole school [with a google form attached],” President of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, Audrey Koh, said.
The honor society received 77 responses on the Google Form and closed the form to any new responses because of the overflow. It was opened again for more submissions with fewer song choices.
The musicians performed songs including “Careless Whisper” by George Michael, “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley, “Love You Baby” by Frankie Valli, “Happy Birthday” by Preston Ware Orem, and “L-O-V-E” by Nat King Cole.
“As of right now, we’re just leaving the money in the Tri-M fund, but usually what we do is we donate the money to charity, like music education charities,” Koh said.
The Tri-M board, including Koh had to plan strategically to fundraise the most money.
“The only way this [fundraiser] would work was if we played it off as something to embarrass your friends,” Koh said.
15-20 students part of the music program took part in “embarrassing” members of the Pascack Valley community on Valentine’s Day.
