Two individuals at Pascack Valley tested positive for COVID-19, according to an email sent to the district on Nov. 11 by district Superintendent Erik Gundersen. 

“The specific circumstances of these two cases requires an extensive contact tracing investigation, and based on current data, the Department of Health is strongly recommending that we close Pascack Valley High School for in-person learning for at least Thursday, November 12,” Gundersen wrote. 

PV will be fully remote tomorrow and will operate on a B5 schedule. According to the email, all students will be required to check-in remotely to all classes. In-person extracurricular activities are cancelled for Valley on Nov. 12 and no students will be permitted to enter the building.

According to the email, “there are no changes to operations at Pascack Hills at this time.” Hills will follow a hybrid B5 schedule.

Gundersen noted that he intends on sending a follow-up email tomorrow containing an update and further plans moving forward for Valley.

“Many of the new cases being reported across the State are the result of small indoor gatherings,” Gundersen said. “The State has guidelines for such gatherings that we strongly encourage all parents and students to review.”
