Pascack Valley Football moved to 3-2 on the season with a dominant 47-14 win over Demarest on Friday, Sept. 29.
RB Kevin Regula (Jr.) led the way, running for five touchdowns, while the defense held the Norsemen scoreless on every drive but two.
The Panthers wasted no time getting in the scoring column, with the team’s first offensive drive culminating in a three-yard rushing touchdown from Regula.
Regula followed with another scoring run, this time for 16 yards, and then RB Kai Smith (So.) broke out a 56-yard rushing touchdown, giving the Panthers a 21-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
Demarest was able to get some points back in the second quarter, but Valley responded right away with Regula scoring a third touchdown. A failed fake field goal attempt on the PAT kept the score at 27-6.
Entering halftime, the Panthers had a comfortable 33-6 lead.
By the time the fourth quarter rolled around, mostly second-stringers were in for both teams, and the running clock rule was activated.
QB Adam Shaw (So.) was one of the players who hit the bench early due to the lopsided score. He recorded 120 total yards in his team’s victory. QB Michael Colletti (So.) replaced Shaw in the third.
The win snaps the Panthers’ two-game losing streak, which dates back to their week three loss versus Old Tappan—a statewide powerhouse—and last week’s 14-7 loss to Northern Highlands—another highly respected program in New Jersey.
Next up, Valley will take on Montville (4-2) on the road. When these two teams met last year, Montville won 21-10. The Panthers look to avenge this loss on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. at Montville.
