Pascack Valley Football is set to take on Northern Valley Old Tappan in the last regular season game for both teams. Valley heads into this game with a 4-3 record, while Old Tappan is still undefeated with a record of 7-0.
Last week, Valley was defeated by River Dell, 14-13, in a game that came down to the wire.
Late in the fourth quarter, on fourth down and long, Quarterback Michael Colletti (Sr.) threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Marley Smith (Sr.)— making the score 14-13, putting Valley within one point. Valley went on to have a failed 2-point conversion attempt to lose the game.
Last season, Pascack Valley defeated Old Tappan in their regular season meeting, 27-21; however, when the teams met again in the NJSIAA Group Tournament Semifinal Round for Group 3, Old Tappan won 43-14.
The 7-0 Golden Knights are led by Quarterback Zachary Miceli (Jr.) and Running Back Devyn Radoian (Sr.). Last week in the team’s matchup versus Wayne Hills, NVOT dominated, winning 47-28 in a high-scoring battle. Miceli tossed for 325 passing yards and 2 touchdowns in the game; Devyn Radoian rushed for 165 yards and 4 rushing touchdowns. The high-scoring offense will be looking to keep things going this week.
Valley will need to be at the top of its game to pull off a victory, as Old Tappan looks to go undefeated and secure the number one seed for the playoffs. This game also has big implications for Valley’s playoff hopes, as if the Panthers manage to win, they can move as high as the #2 seed in their group’s bracket.
The game will take place at Northern Valley Old Tappan High School at 6:00 p.m. tonight.
