Monday, Jan. 17
Girls Basketball vs. Cresskill | Valley 50 – Cresskill 32
The girls defeated Cresskill by a score of 50-32 to move their winning streak to three straight games, their longest one of the season so far. A lot of Valley’s offensive production came from freshmen, with Ava Burke and Celina Bussanich scoring 12 and 10 points respectively. Sr. Jules Vassallo also played a big role in Valley’s win, scoring 12 points.
Tuesday, Jan. 18
Girls Swimming vs. Passaic Tech | Valley 70 – Passaic Tech 100
Girls Swimming took a tough loss to Passaic Tech on Tuesday. With this loss, Valley still remains winless on the season at 0-5.
Boys Swimming at Passaic Tech | Valley 43 – Passaic Tech 125
The boys also lost at their meet against Passaic Tech. The loss moves the team to 1-4.
Girls Basketball at Teaneck | Valley 49 – Teaneck 58
The girls lost to Teaneck in a competitive game. After the first half, the score was 28-31, Teaneck. The 3rd quarter saw Teaneck outscoring Valley 21-15. In the 4th quarter, Valley put up only 6 points, failing to mount a comeback. Sr. Jules Vassallo led Valley in scoring with 19 points.
Boys Basketball at Teaneck | Valley 80 – Teaneck 79 (3OT)
The boys came out on top in a 3OT thriller against Teaneck. For Valley, Christian Vargas led the team in scoring with 35 points. The win put Valley at 3-4 on the season and moved their winning streak to three.

Wednesday, Jan. 19
Wrestling at Old Tappan | Valley 33 – Old Tappan 44
Wrestling drove over a small bump on a road that has been mostly smooth for them this season on Wednesday against one of their biggest rivals, NVOT. Sr. Nick Savariego, Sr. Drew Petaccia, Sr. Justin Amato, and Jr. Ray Kohan all won their matches by a pin. Sr. Noah Martin won his match by a technical fall while So. Antonio Cedeno won his match by a major decision. For Valley, this wasn’t enough to get them the win as they fell by a score of 44-33 to Old Tappan (8-1), the best team in Valley’s league- record-wise.
Thursday, Jan. 20
Boys Basketball vs. Westwood | Valley 60 – Westwood 57
The boys were able to squeeze out yet another win in a close game against Westwood on Thursday. After getting themselves into an 8-point-deficit by the end of the first quarter, they were able to rally and edge Westwood behind contributions from Jr. Conor Higgins (20 points), Jr. Chris Vargas (17 points), and Jr. Jimmy Shea (16 points).

Friday, Jan. 21
Girls Bowling vs. Northern Highlands | Valley 0 – Northern Highlands 7
Girls Bowling fell to 1-3 with a 10-1 Northern Highlands.
Boys Bowling vs. Northern Highlands | Valley 5 – Northern Highlands 2
Boys Bowling defeated a very talented Northern Highlands team for their first win of the season.
Girls Swimming at River Dell | Valley 93 – River Dell 77
The girls came out victorious over River Dell for their first win of the season. They look to continue their winning ways on Monday against Passaic (0-6).
Boys Swimming at River Dell | Valley 65 – River Dell 105
The boys were not as fortunate as the girls, losing 65-105. They look to bounce back on Monday against Passaic (0-6).
Wrestling vs. Ramsey | Valley 42 – Ramsey 33
Wrestling defeated Ramsey by a score of 42-33 to advance to 10-4 on the season. Sr. Drew Pettacia, Sr. Justin Amato, and So. John Allmers all won their matches on pins. Sr. Nick Savariego, Sr. Noah Martin, and Jr. Ray Kohan all won their matches on major decisions. They look to continue these efforts on Wednesday, Jan. 26 at home against West Milford (4-8).
Saturday, Jan. 22
Girls Basketball vs. Indian Hills | Valley 45 – Indian Hills 30
Valley defeated Indian Hills on Saturday morning behind a big contribution from Sr. Jules Vassallo, tallying 22 points in the game. Valley’s defense was also a strong point in the win, holding Indian Hills to just 30 points. The win moves Valley to 6-5 on the year. Their next game will be on Tuesday, Jan. 25 against 0-12 Dwight-Morrow at home.
Boys Basketball vs. Passaic Tech | Valley 68 – Passaic Tech 55
With this win, Valley extended their winning streak to five and are now above .500 for the first time this season. They look to make it six on Tuesday, Jan. 25 against a 1-7 Dwight-Morrow squad.

Hockey vs. Montville | Valley 7 – Montville 2
Hockey had yet another dominating performance on Saturday night to move their record to 9-4-1 and their winning streak to five. Over the course of this streak, they have outscored their opponents 36-11. They look to continue this streak on Saturday, Jan. 29 at Paramus.
