Monday, October 6

GIRLS VARSITY TENNIS @ NORTHERN VALLEY OLD TAPPAN | Loss 2-3

Pascack Valley Girls Tennis came up just short of upsetting Old Tappan on Monday. This loss snapped the team’s 6 games winning streak. Despite the loss, Kristina Wegner (Sr.) and Emilia Rettew (Sr.) won their match at first doubles 7-5, 6-1.

VARSITY VOLLEYBALL @ NORTHERN VALLEY OLD TAPPAN | Win 2-0

Volleyball ended its three-game losing streak and defeated Old Tappan in a dominant win. The team now moves to 6-5 on the season. In the win, Celia Torres (Sr.) had 22 assists, and Riley Hirsh (Sr.) had eight kills.

GIRLS VARSITY SOCCER VS NORTHERN VALLEY OLD TAPPAN | Loss 5-0

Girls soccer was held to no goals in the team’s loss again NVOT. Gabby Velecela (Jr.) recorded 8 saves in the Valley loss.

BOYS VARSITY SOCCER @ NORTHERN VALLEY OLD TAPPAN | Loss 2-0

Boys soccer couldn’t get the win over a talented Old Tappan team. Jake Liebchen (Sr.) recorded 7 saves in the loss. With the loss, the boys moved to 5-7 on the season.

Tuesday, October 7

GIRLS VARSITY TENNIS STATES 2ND ROUND @ MAHWAH | Loss 4-1

Girls tennis’s run in states came to an end with a loss to Mahwah 4-1. Valley’s Alex Ganz (Sr.) was the only winner, as she won in a third-set tie break, 10-8.

Wednesday, October 8

GIRLS VARSITY SOCCER @ BERGENFIELD | Win 5-0

Girls soccer bounced back after its previous loss with a decisive 5-0 victory over Bergenfield. Allie Polyniak (Sr.) scored twice in the win.

GIRLS VARSITY TENNIS @ TENAFLY | Loss 4-1

Girls tennis took another loss, this time to Tenafly on Wednesday. Abby Osso (Fr.) earned the lone PV win in straight sets.

BOYS VARSITY SOCCER VS BERGENFIELD | Win 3-2

Adrian Cano (Sr.) netted 2 goals in the close victory against Bergenfield. Valley goalies Jake Liebchen (Sr.) and Dylan Melconian (Jr.) each recorded 3 saves.

Friday, October 10

GIRLS VARSITY TENNIS VS DEMAREST | Loss 5-0

Girls tennis couldn’t secure a win against Demarest, extending its losing streak to 4 matches. PV’s record now sits at 8-7: 3-6 in the Big North National division.

Saturday, October 11

BOYS VARSITY SOCCER COUNTY TOURNAMENT VS CLIFFSIDE PARK | Loss 3-2

No. 11 Cliffside Park defeated No. 22 PV in overtime in the first round of the Bergen County Tournament. Lucas Mercado (Jr.) scored 1 goal and assisted on Adrian Cano’s (Sr.) goal.

Sunday, October 12

GIRLS VARSITY SOCCER COUNTY TOURNAMENT VS CRESSKILL | Win 2-1

PV, entering the Bergen County Tournament as the No. 9 seed, defeated No. 24 Cresskill in the preliminary round. Girls soccer will face No. 8 Saddle River Day on Wednesday, Oct. 15 in the first round of the tournament.

As a junior, Nathan Faber has been a member of The Valley Echo for two years and is now a Sports Editor. He has always enjoyed writing for the paper, and enjoys reading articles on football, basketball, and baseball. He has been on the Varsity Tennis Team since his freshman year. He is also a member of the Chess Club, Bee Club, This Week in Politics, and Habitat for Humanity. In his free time, he enjoys watching sports, playing tennis, and golf. He hopes to continue writing more articles this year.

Zander Karalewich, Editor-in-Chief

Zander Karalewich is a junior at Pascack Valley High School and Editor-in-Chief of The Valley Echo. This is his third year with the student newspaper, where he previously served as a Staff Editor. Zander enjoys writing feature articles and school news for the paper. In addition to his role with The Echo, Zander is a member of Peer Leaders and an active member of clubs like This Week in Politics, Investment, and History, and plays golf for PV. He is also an event photographer for various publications.
