2/6 Monday
Boys Bowling vs Old Tappan / WIN 5-2
Pascack Valley Boys Bowling took down Old Tappan 5-2 on Monday. The team advanced to a record of 4-1, bouncing back after its loss against Old Tappan earlier in the season.
Wrestling @ Old Tappan / LOSS 38-25
The Pascack Valley Wrestling Team lost to Old Tappan in the Quarterfinal Round of the NJSIAA North 1, Group 3 Team Tournament. Adan Cedeno and Ray Kohan each had pins. Antonio Cedeno and Nick Brue won their bouts with major decisions, and Nate Lewis won on a forfeit. Those wins were not enough, however, to overcome the #1 seeded Old Tappan Knights.

Girls Swimming @ Livingston / LOSS 98-72
The Pascack Valley Girls Swimming Team lost to Livingston in the opening round of the 2023 NJSIAA Girls Swimming North 1, Group A Tournament. While the team didn’t pull off the win, the group of Amanda Bramley, Nicole Choi, Ryan Zoelle, and Jessica Malocha came in first in the 200 meter race, with a time of 2:12.73.
Girls Basketball vs Demarest / WIN 50-32
Girls basketball defeated Demarest, 50-32. Valley led 20-1 at the end of the first quarter. Lindsay Jennings, North Jersey Female Athlete of the Week in December, led the way for Valley with 23 points. Tori Criscuolo had 12 points, and Celina Bussanich added 8 points as well.
Boys Basketball @ Demarest / LOSS 43-35
Valley’s boys basketball team lost to Demarest, 43-35. Devin Merker had 13 points, and Michael Criscuolo added 10 points. Jimmy Shea had 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 blocks as well.
Ice Hockey vs Gov. Livingston / LOSS 5-0
The Pascack Ice Hockey Team lost, 5-0, to Gov. Livingston. Aidan Rybacki had 51 saves; however, after the 3-0 start for Gov. Livingston, Valley was unable to come back from the deficit.
2/8 Wednesday
Wrestling @ Teaneck / 52-23 WIN
To finish its wrestling season, the Valley Wrestling Team defeated the Teaneck Highwaymen, 52-23. George Hamilton, Ryan Carlson, and Nick Brue brought Valley to a quick 18-0, with three pins in a combined time of 5 minutes and 12 seconds. Later in the match, Ray Kohan and Brayden Morgan added pins as well. Julian Morris, Will Tarna, and Matt Bainbridge won their bouts on decision, major decision, and decision, respectively. John Allmers and Adan Cedeno won on forfeits.
Boys Swimming @ Lakeland / 118-43 WIN
The Valley Boys Swim Team finished off its season with a 118-43 win. In every race, Valley swimmers finished in first place. The team finishes its season 4-3.
Girls Swimming @ Lakeland / 95-75 WIN
The Valley Girls Swim Team won 95-75 against Lakeland in its final swim meet of the season. Valley won all but three races. Valley finished its season with a record of 4-4.
2/9 Thursday
Girls Basketball @ Old Tappan / LOSS 40-36
Valley Girls Basketball lost to Old Tappan by a score of 40-36 on Thursday. After being down 7 points at halftime, Valley brought the Knights’ lead down to 2 points in the second half, but Old Tappan held on. Celina Bussanich had 12 points. Lindsay Jennings and Ava Burke had 7 points each, and Tori Criscuolo added 6 points.
Boys Basketball vs Old Tappan / WIN 71-56
After being down 11-0 in the opening minutes, Valley Boys Basketball rallied back to win its game against Old Tappan on Thursday, 71-56. Christian Vargas finished with his season high: 31 points.
2/10 Friday
Wrestling @ Northern Highlands / LOSS 45-29
The Pascack Valley Wrestling Team lost its regular season finale to Northern Highlands, 45-29, finishing the regular season 13-10. The wrestlers now shift their focus to the District 1 Tournament, which is located at River Dell High School on Saturday, February 18th.
Ice Hockey @ Passaic Tech / LOSS 1-0
On Friday, the Valley Hockey Team lost to Passaic Tech, 1-0, in the quarterfinals of the Big North Gold Cup. Aidan Rybacki had 30 saves. While Valley had 14 shots on goal, none found the back of the net.
2/11 Saturday
Girls Basketball @ IHA / LOSS 53-46
After Jeff Jasper and Pascack Valley became the first program and coach to reach the semifinals in the Bergen County Tournament in six different decades, they did not advance to the finals, losing 53-46 to IHA in a battle that went down to the last minute. Celina Bussanich led the way for the Panthers with 14 points. Ava Burke had 13 points, Madison McCarthy had 8 points, and Lindsay Jennings had 7 points. The girls’ next game is Tuesday, February 14th, against Chester Academy (NY) at home.
Boys Basketball vs Dwight Englewood / WIN 75-61
Pascack Valley Boys Basketball secured the No.4 seed in the state tournament after winning 75-61 over Dwight Englewood on Saturday. Gaining a lead of 36-10 in the second quarter, Valley never looked back. Jimmy Shea had 19 points, Christian Vargas had 18 points, Devin Merker had 16 points, Mike Criscuolo had 13 points and Connor Higgins had 7 points.
