Brendan Gaskin during his start against River Dell in the first round of the state tournament. Gaskin threw 5 and 2/3 innings allowing 6 hits and 7 strikeouts in 108 pitches.

Tuesday, May 27

Baseball vs. River Dell | WIN 3-2

The PV Baseball Team defeated River Dell, 3-2, in the first round of the North 1 Group 2 State Tournament. Brendan Gaskin (Jr.) pitched 5 and 2/3 innings and did not let up a run. He also had two RBIs at bat.

Softball vs. Fair Lawn | WIN 4-1

Pascack Valley’s Softball Team defeated Fair Lawn, 4-1. Ashley Diaz (Sr.) and Alexandra Siller (Jr.) each had two hits. On the mound, Siller allowed only four hits and one earned run.

Wednesday, May 28

Boys Tennis vs. Mahwah | WIN 3-2

PV Boy’s Tennis defeated Mahwah, 3-2, in the first round of the North 1 Group 2 State Tournament. Evan Hwang (So.) won at second singles, Evan Starr (Sr.) and Robbie Wasserman won at first doubles, and Nathan Faber (So.) and Nick Tabano (Sr.) won at second doubles.

Softball vs. Mahwah | WIN 12-0

In the first round of the North 1 Group 2 State Tournament, the softball team won 12-0. On the mound, Alexandra Siller (Jr.) only allowed two hits. Ashley Diaz (Sr.) had a homerun, along with four RBIs.

Baseball @ Bergenfield | WIN 6-3
PV Baseball defeated Bergenfield, 6-3. Nick Donofrio (Sr.) had his eighth home run of the season during the game. Gary Arons (Sr.) was the pitcher for Valley, only allowing three runs.

Boys Tennis @ Demarest | LOSS 4-1

The PV Boys Tennis Team’s  season came to an end with a 4-1 loss to Demarest. Suren Makichyan (Fr.) was the only member of the PV team to earn a win. Valley finished with a record of 12-8.

Thursday, May 29

Boys Lacrosse vs. River Dell | WIN 7-4

The Boys Lacrosse Team won 7-4 in its first round match against River Dell in the North Jersey Group 2 State Tournament. Dylan Borges (Sr.) led the Panthers with five goals. Owen Dargan (Jr.) and Donnie Duffus (Sr.) had one goal each.

Girls Lacrosse Vs. Holmdel | WIN 18-6

The Girls Lacrosse Team won, 18-6, in its first round match against Holmdel in theNorth Jersey Group 2 State Tournament. Courtney Pelisson (Sr.) and Ella Saxon (Sr.) had four goals each.

Friday, May 30

Baseball vs. Jefferson | WIN 10-2

The PV Baseball Team defeated Jefferson 10-2 in the Quarterfinals. Trevor Kirkby (Sr.) had a 2-run homerun for Valley. JT Deriso (Sr.) had 10 strikeouts and only allowed two earned runs in the win.

Softball @ Glen Rock | WIN 4-0

PV Softball won, 4-0, against Glen Rock in the Quarterfinals. Alexandra Siller (Jr.) had six strikeouts and only allowed four hits.

Noah Reiser, Lead Sports Editor
Noah Reiser is a senior who joined the Valley Echo his sophomore year. He started as a sports writer and is now one of the Lead Sports Editors for this year’s staff. Noah has always been passionate about writing and sports, whether for a class or the Valley Echo. During his time at Pascack Valley, Noah played on the soccer and baseball teams his freshman year and is a current member of the Varsity Basketball Team. He has also been a part of Camp Raspberry, Yearbook, Investment Club, and the National Honors Society. Noah looks to continue his writing and editing production, exploring the various stories that involve Pascack Valley sports.

Ryan Lomanto is a sophomore who joined the Valley Echo his freshman year and is now the Photo Editor for the paper. He takes pictures for his Instagram and for the publication. He is a part of many other clubs such as PV Pals, Investment Club, Camp Raspberry, This Week in Politics, DECA, and Student Council. Ryan is also a current member of the PV Lacrosse Team. In his free time, Ryan enjoys playing golf, hanging out with friends, listening to music, and watching sports. This year he looks to build up his portfolio and improve the overall participation of photographers.
