Sophomore singles player wins 6 matches in her second season

Name: Melanie Brentnall

Sport: Girls Tennis

Grade: Sophomore

Position: Third Singles

The Lowdown: Brentnall has played 3rd singles for the Indians, and won her match against Demarest on Oct. 6th in a tiebreaker. Individually, she is 6-7 on the year. She has played mostly at third singles this year, as well as a few matches at doubles.

Expectations: While the girls tennis season recently ended, Brentnall emphasized that the team needs to find doubles partners that work well together in preperation for next year. PV is also losing a senior singles player, and will need a replacement for next year.

What She Likes Most About Her Sport: “I like how it’s indivudal, and you’re playing for yourself. So if you are having a bad day, you don’t have to worry about letting someone else down.”

Best Sport Memory: “It was when I was playing against Demarest, everyone else was finished, and everyone was watching me. I was playing a tie breaker and I finally won, everyone was cheering for me.”

Best Thing About PV: “I like the independence, and how the teachers treat you like adults. Coming from middle school, it’s just a big change.”

Do You Prefer Singles Or Doubles: “Singles because I don’t have to worry about anyone else.”

Lacrosse Or Tennis: “I like aspects of both but I think I like tennis better because you can play it your whole life.”
