Class of 2020 to participate in graduation parade

A parade will take place Tuesday, June 16, with a rain date of June 17, in place of a traditional ceremony on the original graduation date due to the pandemic. The parade will take place in four separate “waves” to ensure that traffic is kept to a minimum and keep the community safe, according to an email sent by Interim Principal John Puccio to the Class of 2020.

Each of the 296 seniors is permitted one car, which must also be identified using a poster with the graduate’s name. The parade will begin at Holdrum Middle School and proceed to Rivervale Road and through Piermont Road. Cars will then be able to enter into the school through the teacher’s parking lot and drive to the front where each graduate’s name will be announced.

A video of a pre-filmed ceremony will also be released on June 16. An in-person ceremony will also be held and another video which includes speeches from District Superintendent Erik Gundersen, Interim Principal John Puccio, the valedictorian, and salutatorian will be released July 8.
