On Wednesday, the Pascack Valley swim team competed against Paramus Catholic at the Lodi Boys and Girls Club.

The girls team continued their winning ways, with a 105-65 victory. This extends their undefeated season to six games. Their dominance was on display again as they won eight of the eleven events contested.

Cassie Freeman was especially strong 200 I.M and 100 butterfly. Senior Cassidy Le also finished 2nd in the 100 free, while competing against one of Paramus Catholic’s stronger swimmers. Lauren Parisi also contested in the 100 backstroke.

The boys team also fared well, tying Paramus Catholic 85-85. The tie moves the boys record to 2-3-1.

“We were very happy to come out with the tie and we were very impressed with the boys,” coach Courtney Farrell stated.

The shining moment of the meet for the boys was the 200 freestyle relay.

The “Senior Foursome” of Eli O’Connor, Jimmy Spillane, Sean Kim, and Liam Caruth competed in the relay.

“We were going for the 200 medley relay, but we missed that record by a second. With all the rage inside of me because we didn’t break that record, we knew we had to break the 200 free relay,” O’Connor said, “We were super hyped before it.”

And that is just what they did. This is the fourth school record that O’Connor is responsible for breaking this season. He also added a win in the 100 freestyle.

Also worth mentioning is the willingness to win of senior Willie Theilmeier. Against Paramus Catholic, Theilmeier swam three events back-to-back-to-back. The physical demand resulted in valuable points for the Pascack team.
