Golf team rounds out season

With no seniors, the face of the golf team next year looks to be very similar. This week, the team is rounding out its season with one match against Waldwick and the Odell Nasser Bergen County Team Tournament.

“We had a decent year. With lack of experience we were happy to qualify for the county tournament,” said junior Calvin Ralph, optimistic about what the future holds for these fine young golfers.

This Thursday, the team will head off to Darlington Golf Course in Mahwah to participate in the county team tournament. The tournament is the last stretch for this year’s team.

“We gave it a good run,” said junior Rob Carcich, who this year solidified his varsity position. “I just think next year we have to come back even better than we were.”

Junior Will Gallagher added to that hopeful sentiment by saying, “Our season was quick, but several of the matches at the end of the year show potential for next season as a team.”

The Odell Nasser is important because it gives the golfers a chance to advance to the Dan Luciano Individual Championship, if they place in the top 30 golfers in the individual portion of the Odell Nasser. The tournament also has a team component and acts as the first round of the Luciano Championship.
