Il Freno is a small coffee shop located right below Cyclesport, a bike shop in Park Ridge.

It is perfect for a quick stop after shopping at the bike shop or relaxing in the park across the street. 

This small and adorable shop has a multitude of drink options. This includes hot drinks like Cappuccinos, Lattes, Americanos, Tea, and Hot Chocolate. There are iced drinks like Iced Coffees, Cold Brew Drafts, Iced Red Eyes, and Iced Teas. 

Il Freno also has a few specialty drinks including an Espresso, Macchiato, Cortado, Dirty Chai Latte, and Cafe Bruciato. 

Oat milk and almond milk are available, which is always a plus for any lactose-intolerant coffee lovers. 

While this is a shop that specializes in coffee, there are some great food options for a quick bite!

There are croissants, danishes, sticky buns, cinnamon rolls, Belgium waffles (chocolate chip or sugar vanilla), raspberry bars, muffins, loaf bread, and scones. 

I recommend stopping in for an Iced Americano and a Belgium waffle with chocolate chips. 

The Americano had the perfect amount of ice and tasted delicious. 

There was great service. I was able to order efficiently without a wait. My order was made within a minute and with a smile. 

Additionally, the interior was gorgeously done. The white countertop and tiling gave the small store more warmth and brightness. 

There is only one downside to the building: it is very small. So there aren’t always places to sit, especially on a cold day. 

Overall, I would give Il Freno 4/5 stars. The coffee and food was delicious. I only wish the store were a bit bigger, with more seating. There was great service as well.
