After 21 seasons, Pascack Valley varsity girls volleyball coach Andrew Lewis announced that he is stepping down at the team’s end of season dinner on Monday night. However, his resignation is not official until it is submitted to and accepted by the Pascack Valley Board of Education.

Lewis took over as head coach at PV in 1995 following one season as the junior varsity coach, and is perhaps best known for his 2003 team beating Demarest, which at the time had an 83 match winning streak. That same year, Pascack Valley also captured the title in the Bergen County Tournament. After that 2003 season, Lewis was named Volleyball Coach of the Year by The Record.

He also led his team to a North Bergen Interscholastic League title in 2005 and finished runner-up in that year’s county tournament.

Lewis announced that he will be staying on to coach the freshman team, while it is anticipated that Lauren Bacsik and Kate Lewis will likely coach the junior varsity and varsity teams, respectively, though no moves are confirmed.
