Light in the Valley makes petition to combat human trafficking

On Wednesday afternoon, “Light in the Valley,” Pascack Valley’s student-run group committed to raising human and sex trafficking awareness, tweeted a link to a petition directed at the Obama administration to help end sex trafficking.

The goal of the petition is to have enough signatures to allow for the human trafficking hotline number (1-888-373-7888) to be posted in all rest stop bathrooms on the National Highway System, due to the fact that these areas are popular locations for traffickers to sell their victims. By placing the hotline number in all of the rest stop bathrooms, it provides a great opportunity for people to speak out and end the horrible evils of trafficking.

Students and faculty members began tweeting and retweeting the link to spread the word about this petition and make a difference in the lives of many; several people were even tweeting to specific figures of authority, politicians, reporters, and organizations.

There must be 100,000 signatures on the petition to receive a response.
