Love and gratitude for Valley teachers: a Valentine’s Day special
Happy Valentine’s Day, Pascack Valley! Today is the day to show love and gratitude to not only your significant others, friends, and family, but also to your Valley family. To celebrate the day, PV students sent messages of appreciation for their teachers.
World Language Department
Many Valley students’ love language lies in the World Language department with Lao Shis, Señoras, and Signoras.
Her classes are always so fun and she’s just the best person ever, basically my other mother. YAO LAO SHI I LOVE YOU!

Mr. O’Neill is one of the best teachers I ever had! He talks about current events a lot and Chinese culture. He also makes the class a lot of fun and has a lot of humor.
— a PV junior
Señora Ladino is always very energetic and expressive when she teaches. The music, games/activities she assigns are a very entertaining way to learn Spanish. You can’t miss her and the unique earrings she wears.
— a PV junior
Mrs. Borghi is the best Italian teacher I’ve had.
— a PV sophomore
Physical Education Department
Gym class make Valley students’ hearts beat.
I love my gym class with Cusumano because it’s a great way for me to release my stress and just have fun with my friends and not worry about other things.
— a PV senior
Math Department
Students + teachers = a perfect match in the Math Department
Mrs. Schwartzman is an amazing teacher, and an even more amazing person. She always makes class interesting and fun everyday. She also will stop class just to have conversations with us. She makes us actively engage in class, and will purposely goof off in class to make us laugh. She is truly the best math teacher.
— a PV freshman
I love that no matter what happens, Mrs. Ricca tries to bring genuine enthusiasm to the class and make it a welcoming environment.
— a PV junior
I love my math class with Schwartzman because she is an incredibly strong person (physically and also emotionally) and no matter what, is always positive.
— a PV senior
English Department
Although their classes live on the second floor, English teachers are first in some Valley students’ hearts.
Morone makes sure to keep his class engaging and holds genuine interest in improving the skills of his students while giving them enough leeway to keep the subject entertaining. He brings real earnestness to class, which is really comforting and refreshing.
— a PV junior
I love my English class with Recine because she always makes me feel seen and heard and is always more than willing to work with me, no matter how grumpy I am.
— a PV senior
Science Department
Many Valley students have unbreakable bonds with their science teachers.
Koenig is genuinely funny and doesn’t hesitate to congratulate people for a job well done! He doesn’t cut corners in his teaching or condescend to his students and seems really invested in people fully understanding the material he gives out.
— a PV junior
Everybody thinks rocket science is hard, but isn’t it literally just physics? Such idiots…he teaches the hardest stuff ever. Koenig is the man.
— a PV junior
Music Department
The teachers of the Music Department make PV students’ hearts sing.
I love how Safari is always cracking jokes with us and making class so fun and memorable. She also is always there for us to support us and listen to us, no matter if it has to do with music or not. Any student that has her is very, very, VERY lucky.
— a PV senior
Social Studies Department
Despite teaching their students mostly about the past, PV Social Studies teachers are a present.
Sarajian is VERY iconic. His walk to class is unique, his jokes/stories are the best, and he really cares about the students.
— a PV junior
I love my psych class with Walter because he’s just an awesome person/teacher. He makes class fun and comfortable, even if we are discussing some awful mental disorders.
— a PV senior
No matter what department a teacher is in, it is clear PV students love their teachers.
I love how all my teachers truly enjoy the topic they’re teaching and the fact that they really want to see their students succeed. It’s obvious when you see them teach that they love what they’re doing and are happy to be here every day, and that makes me love their classes more.
