Pascack Period Tour: Mural Painting

Pascack Valley students let out their creative energy as they make their mark throughout the school in Mrs.DiGiacopo’s Pascack Period, “Mural Painting”. The class is a full year course that takes place in sessions A and B.

DiGiacopo predicts that the giant locker mural on the second floor will not be finished until sometime in May or June.

The mural itself covers a set of unused lockers.

The theme of the mural involves the portrayal of giant novels leaning against one another as if they are sitting on a giant shelf. Each locker will represent a different book spine, or if the student chooses to, a modified portrayal of a book.

“It took about a month to try and figure out the best way to fit all the books on the lockers. We’ve taken the original idea we were presented with and have changed it to just be a little more artsy and creative,” said DiGiacopo.

The books included in the mural, as of now, are To Kill a Mockingbird, Catcher in the Rye, Frankenstein, The Great Gatsby, and The Kite Runner.

Many of the students in the course pursue art outside of what is offered at school as well.
