PV swimmers begin their race during a meet.

Coach: Jeffrey Ziegler (8th season)  and Courtney Farrell (4th season)

Last year’s record: 9-3 (Girls), 4-7 (Boys)

Key Returners: Danielle Freeman (Sr. Capt.) Emily Lê (Sr. Capt.), Lauren Parisi (Sr. Capt.), Haleigh Marzano (Jr.), Katie Smith (So.), Emma Wentland (So.)

Matthew Green (Sr. Capt.), Kevin Herlihy (Sr. Capt.), Mark Pothen (Sr.), Brendan Broesler (Jr.), Zach Zeller (Jr.)

Key Losses: Cassidy Freeman and Troy Peressini

Key Newcomers: Jen Malocha (Fr.), Tyler Marzano (Fr.)

Strength of team: The girls team is looking to have another strong season, and improve upon the nine wins from a year ago. Pascack Swimming has an experienced group of seniors that have consistently improved since their freshman year for both the boys and girls. Both teams also have a lot of promising underclassmen that will take on large roles.

Weakness of team: The team will be younger than in years past, since nine seniors graduated from a year ago. This year, the team will have to fill the voids left by Cassidy Freeman and Peressini. The team is also a bit short on swimmers, with less participants than in years past.

Outlook: This season, both teams are looking to improve on last season. One specific goal that the girls have is to capture a league title for the ninth straight season.

Coach’s Comment: “I look forward to seeing how our smaller group of upperclassmen are going to lead our big group of underclassmen. I can’t wait to see what our freshman and sophomores can do. And for the girls we are hoping for another league title,” Farrell said.

Editor’s Note: PV Swim Team is currently 0-1 after falling to Ridgewood on Dec. 2. The girls lost 106-64, while the boys lost 101-69.
