PV softball team hosts 5k run
The Pascack Valley softball team hosted its first-ever annual Softball Shamrock 5k Walk/Run on Sunday. The race was held to raise money for a team dugout.
The race started at Stonybrook at 9 a.m. and ended at Meadowbrook Elementary School around 10 a.m with 129 race finishers. Bagels, apples, and water were distributed at the end of the race. Prizes were given out to the overall winners and age group winners.
The top 3 male winners were Andrew Lagattuta (Glen Rock), Joe McCabe (Glen Rock), and Christopher Carcich (River Vale). The top 3 female winners were Christine Rabadan (Westwood), Barbara Willock (Ridgefield Park), and Elizabeth Carr (Hawthorne).
The 5k also had support from some PV students and faculty: Hailey Juillet, Brenna McGonigle, Sean Wertheim, Zach Zeller, Andrew Martinez, Olivia Catalano, Abigail Twomey, AJ Menendez, Dani Menendez, Matthew Ingenito, Elizabeth Spadafino, Carley Borges, Mrs. Nancy Ricca, Ms. Caitlin Murphy, Mrs. Lauren Johnson, and Mr. Anthony Judilla.
With this support, the team was able to raise over $7,000.
“For our first year, the race was very successful,” PV softball coach Lauren Bascik said. “Even with the cold weather, we had a good amount of runners. Everyone seemed to have a good time, whether they were running, walking, or cheering for the runners. We can’t wait to make this a race Pascack Valley, Hillsdale, and River Vale look forward to for many years to come.”
Lauren Cohen graduated in 2018.
