PV teacher wins car, trip on ‘Wheel of Fortune’

Math and computer science teacher Lauren Johnson won a 10 day cruise through the Panama Canal, a Ford Edge, and $9,650 on “Wheel of Fortune” Thursday night on Sept. 12. Johnson solved the final puzzle and the triple toss up word, guessing the words “a tricky move” and “dictionary.”

Johnson explained that she has to wait until the show contacts her in order to claim the prizes.

“I have to wait at most 150 days for them to contact me to get my cruise,” Johnson said. “So from now until 150 days from now, they can call me anytime with the details.”

Although Johnson won prizes from the show, she also won the support of the PV community. Many of the teachers who had watched the show after Back to School Night personally contacted Johnson to congratulate her on her win. Students alo congratulated her when they walked into school the next day.

“The Pascack Valley community, my family, my friends, everyone was so supportive and excited,” Johnson said. “It actually made me a little emotional how happy everyone is, and I felt so much love and support.”

Johnson said faculty members on social media and in real life have approached her to congratulate her. Students and teachers have posted comments on YouTube and Twitter to show their interest in the show.

“There were students coming up to me that I don’t even know, telling me that they saw me,” Johnson said. “It was such a fun experience. I want to try out for more game shows and ‘Family Feud’ next.”
