Julia Conjour looks to beat her defender 1 on 1 and get an opportunity to shoot. She is this Month’s female Athlete of the Month

September Female Athlete of the Month: Julia Conjour

Name: Julia Conjour

Sport: Girls Soccer

Grade: 12th

Position: Striker

Most Recent Performance and Teams Results: one goal and two assists in PV Girls soccer’s 7-1 win against Teaneck

Finishing off last season with 13 goals and 11 assists, Julia Conjour was ready to continue her dominance on the turf as she headed into her senior year.

“The amount of goals I score does not matter; all that matters is if we get the win,” Conjour said.

Being a member of the Varsity Girls Soccer Program since her freshman year, Conjour is ready to lead her team to another winning season. The loss of  nine seniors from last year’s team pushed Julia into the leading role.

“[She is] such a pleasure to coach and be around,” first year head coach Leah Jerome said. “She is a great leader on and off the field, [as she] is vocal and has a great work ethic.”

She plays for her club team, the Stallions, all year round, which allows her to only focus on soccer and become the best player she can be.

“I started playing from such a young age,” Conjour said. “My parents put me in every sport at a young age, and I just grew a love for soccer. What made me fall in love with soccer was how fast the game goes.”

Playing soccer all year round, she has also been able to adapt to different positions on the field.

“Freshman and sophomore, year I played outside mid, and then junior year I played outside mid, center mid, and forward,” Conjour said. “Now I’m mainly playing forward, and sometimes I drop back to center mid.”

Moments like when she scored the first goal of her freshman season, which wound up leading Pascack Valley over Northern Highlands, made her into the player she is today. The Highlanders had only lost 5 games since 2011-2012 season, with 153 wins and two draws.

“That goal was the best moment of my PV Soccer career, as of right now,” Conjour said.

While Conjour is a star player on the soccer field, she also works hard in the classroom. She says that time management is the most important skill to being a successful student and athlete.

In terms of the future, Conjour does not know what she wants to do yet, but she has talked to college coaches about the possibility of playing at the collegiate level.
