Smoke Signal staff changes

Freshman Lauren Cohen, pictured, has been been promoted from staff writer to managing editor of The Smoke Signal. Junior Vanessa Rutigliano, the previous managing editor, is now assistant editor-in-chief, and junior Brianna Ruback has been named features editor.

We here at The Smoke Signal have had such a great time delivering articles to the students and faculty of Pascack Valley throughout the first half of the school year. The transition of The Smoke Signal from newspaper to website has given us so much more freedom to post a wider variety of pieces, on a timely manner.

One of the many reasons why this transition proved to be so smooth was because of the amazing, talented and dedicated writers on our staff. The hard work that our staff has put into the site is truly notable and commendable.

In particular, we have really appreciated the work of both Brianna Ruback and Lauren Cohen, two writers who have been consistently reliable and trustworthy when it comes to turning in pieces for the site. We are proud to announce that both of these writers will be promoted to new positions within The Smoke Signal staff. Cohen will take the position of managing editor, while Ruback will become the site’s features editor.

Cohen will handle more of the day-to-day Smoke Signal affairs, with responsibilities ranging from assigning stories to editing articles for the site. On the other hand, Ruback will oversee all feature stories, such as pieces on students, faculty and alumni from Pascack Valley.

This also means that previous managing editor, Vanessa Rutigliano, will be promoted to the position of assistant editor-in-chief. Rutigliano has put so much work into the site, and we wouldn’t be where we are without her.

Under the leadership of Mr. Bill Rawson, there is a lot to look forward to in the future for The Smoke Signal. We can’t thank you enough for continuing to explore the site.
