Megan Austin reviews the Korean fried chicken chain, Bonchon.

Bonchon has 75 locations all over the country, the nearest location is Hackensack, New Jersey.

Bonchon is a Korean fried chicken chain that specializes in chicken wings.

The chain offers two flavors for their wings: soy garlic and spicy.

Similarly to Kentucky Fried Chicken, one could order different types of chicken wings including: drumsticks, wings, strips, or a combination of the three.

Now to the flavor, the soy garlic wings are by far the best wings I have ever had. The texture is so perfectly crunchy and the soy garlic flavor is sensational.

The soy garlic flavor is a step-up from the run-of-the-mill teriyaki flavor.

As for the spicy wings, I only recommend this to someone who really loves heat. The spicy wings are extremely hot and build up quickly the more wings you eat.

The price for the wings is fairly affordable and average. A 10 piece drum set costs $27.75.

All wings come with a side of pickled radish or coleslaw.

As a coleslaw lover, Bonchon’s coleslaw is definitely lacking in flavor. The only flavor I tasted was from the cabbage.

Besides the wings, Bonchon offers a multitude of starters.

This includes foods such as Bulgogi for $19.55, House Fried Rice for $11.65, and Sesame Ginger Salad for $10.25.

Another starter is the Popcorn Shrimp. This shrimp was less than satisfactory for $12.85.

The shrimp was lukewarm and had no flavor. Despite this, the crunch was immaculate. Still I would not order this again.

Bonchon also offers a type of convenience that other wing places don’t offer. Like other quick service restaurants, Bonchon offers online ordering for delivery, curbside pickup, and takeout.

Overall, I would give Bonchon a 9/10. The wings are unlike any other wings I have had, but the starters and sides could use a bit of a refresh.
