Senior Assassins, a game where seniors eliminate their targets using water guns, was canceled on May 15. Senior Assassins is student-run and the last team standing would have received a cash prize.

“Senior Assassins,” a game where seniors eliminate their targets using water guns, was canceled by Pascack Valley Senior Class Council President and game coordinator Kevin Conrad on a GroupMe senior group chat on May 15. He said in a text message on GroupMe that the game “has brought out the worst.”

Conrad declined to comment when asked by a Smoke Signal reporter because he did not want to cause “more controversy and problems” and “any more division.”

“I tried hard to make this game fun and give our class a memorable and enjoyable event for our last month, and it turned to the complete opposite,” Conrad wrote in the text message. “People are risking their lives.”

Conrad said in the text message that both parents and Hillsdale and River Vale police were becoming involved.

“I genuinely feel hurt that something like this can divide us to the point where people are bullying other kids for a game involving shooting water guns,” Conrad wrote.

Senior Assassins is a student-run game where teams of three seniors have to eliminate another team in order to advance to the next round. The last team standing receives a cash prize.

This year, the prize was over $1,000 after seniors were asked to donate either $5 to participate or $15 per team. Students now have the option to get their money back or donate to The ALS Association according to a text message sent by Conrad in GroupMe.
