Pascack Regional gymnast Marissa McGrane is the Smoke Signal’s Athlete of the Week for the week of October 29.

Name: Marissa McGrane

Sport: Gymnastics

Grade: Senior

Position: Vault and Bars

The Lowdown: A starter since her freshman year, McGrane has contributed to Pascack Regional’s success for the past four years. Competing on bars and vault, McGrane has posted consistent results, helping PVRG in the team’s weaker disciplines. At the Bergen County Tournament on Oct. 19, McGrane’s vault helped Pascack secure the title. PVRG narrowly edged the Academy of Holy Angels 106.025-105.375.

What She Likes Most About Her Sport: “I love that gymnastics is a sport that not everyone can do,” McGrane said. “And I love the team aspect of it.”

Funniest Moment: “Probably anytime that I fall, like it hurts in the moment, but after, we can all laugh about it together,” McGrane said.

Best Thing About PV: McGrane loves Pascack Valley’s school spirit. She also appreciates that “all of our teachers are really nice and really helpful.”
