This weeks Smoke Signal Athlete of the Week, Trevor Lauber, is a member of the bowling team. Lauber recently bowled a perfect 300 for Pascack Valley.

Name: Trevor Lauber

Sport: Bowling

Grade: Senior

The Lowdown: Lauber bowled a perfect game on Dec. 20 against Northern Valley Demarest, and has a 234.5 average thus far this season, the highest of any bowler in the Big North Conference. In his 15 games thus far this season, he has bowled a 204 or higher in all but one. He has improved his average nearly 100 pins from his freshman year, and PV coach Judy Lucia calls him the most improved bowler in her 18 year tenure at the helm.

Coach’s Comment: “Trevor is the most humble of athletes— team comes first!” Lucia said. “He always has a smile on his face when he bowls, whether it is his perfect game of 300 or an occasional game where he didn’t bowl as well as he would have liked.”

How Did He Get Into Bowling: “I always wanted to bowl when I was younger but my parents didn’t really see the potential I had until I joined the a league in seventh grade,” Lauber said.

What He Likes Most About His Sport: “I like that my form has always been changing and I always have something to work on,” Lauber said.

Expectations: “Now just looking forward, we’re looking at the counties and hopefully winning that. And then to state sectionals, finally winning our group, and going down to south Jersey again to face the best [teams in the state],” he said. In terms of personal goals, Lauber hopes to make first team all-county and make some sort of an all-state team.

What Kind Of Bond Does He Have With His Teammates: “The connection that me, Scotty [Morris], and Brian [Biml] have had over the four years of doing this,” Lauber said. “The sport has just brought us all together.”

Lucia calls his trio of seniors the “Three Muskateers” and says their chemistry on the lanes is unique.
