Game Recap:

Pascack Valley fell to 2-2 on Friday night following a 38-14 loss in Old Tappan.

The Indians got off to a strong start after Jake Williams went for a 73-yard run on the first play of the game, setting himself up for a one-yard touchdown on the next play. However, those were the only points Valley would score until the waning moments, as Old Tappan’s defense was able to shut them down the rest of the way.

“We just didn’t continue to make plays,” PV coach Len Cusumano said. “We did a great job that first play and now you’ve got to come back and play defense and you’ve got to comeback and play offense again. It’s a long game and you can’t allow a team like that to gain any momentum.”

The Indians were still within striking distance in a 13-7 game at the start of the third quarter, but a 25-point second half for the Golden Knights put the game out of reach.

Valley’s only other touchdown came on a run by Sean Cuffe in the final minutes.

Stars of the Game:

One bright spot for the Indians was another productive performance from Williams, the workhorse junior tailback. He rushed for 133 yards and scored a touchdown, as he reached the 100-yard mark for the second straight outing. As for OT, quarterback Drew Dippolito was impressive, throwing for 158 yards and 3 touchdowns. RB Johnny Lohrer also totalled 266 total yards and 2 touchdowns on nine carries and six receptions.

“We have to come back and have a great week of practice,” Cusumano said regarding how the Indians will move forward from the loss.

What’s to Come:

The Indians will look to get back on track next week at home against Ridgefield Park (1-3), whom the Indians defeated 26-7 last season.
