After returning to his role of assistant principal for the 2020-21 school year, Puccio has been recommended to the Board of Education for the position of PV’s next principal.

John Puccio has been recommended to the Board of Education by district Superintendent Erik Gundersen for the position of Pascack Valley’s next principal, according to Puccio.

The news was originally announced to the school through an announcement on the loudspeaker early Wednesday morning.

Puccio spent 12 years as Valley’s assistant principal before serving as its interim principal following the retirement of Tom DeMaio last year. He returned to the role of assistant principal for the 2020-21 school year and is now set to become PV’s full-time principal, effective July 1, if approved by the Board of Education.

The board’s next meeting is set to take place on Monday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m.

“I’m excited and I’m proud to [receive] this recommendation and be the next principal at PV,” Puccio said. “We have great kids, amazing staff, and a supportive community. I’m just looking forward to this opportunity.”
