Demboski yells in excitement hyping up the team before the game.

Pascack Valley defeated Paramus by a score of 42-6 on Friday night in Paramus. Sr. running back Nick Messina made some big plays on both sides of the ball for Valley including a 59-yard touchdown run on offense and an interception on defense. Sr. wide receiver Nick Savariego also had a big game, tallying 2 rushing touchdowns.

Valley’s defense started off strong forcing Paramus to go 3-and-out on their opening drive of the game.

“We always want to be on defense first, so we always want to get that first stop and get momentum and get the ball back to our offense,” Defensive Coordinator Precadio said. “In the games we don’t do that it hurts, but tonight we were able to get a big stop early, get the ball to our offense, and get things moving.”

Valley’s first offensive drive only lasted 2 plays, ending with a 41-yard touchdown run from Messina, who also had a 1-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter.

Overall, Messina had 176 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns that were all on the ground.

Paramus’s offense struggled to make things happen against Valley’s defense, with their only touchdown coming from Jr. wide receiver Justus Diaz-Rinaldi. Diaz-Rinaldi finished the game with 65 total yards on 4 receptions and 10 rushes, and a touchdown.

Paramus’s Jr. quarterback, Corey Petruzella, ended the game 7/16 with 99 total yards and an interception.

Midway through the second quarter, Valley had a short kickoff that was tipped by a Paramus player and recovered by Jr. Daniel Kastanis; however, Valley was not able to capitalize on this opportunity and ended up failing to convert on a 4th down.

Valley opened the second half with a 17-yard rushing touchdown from Savariego, who completed the game with 60 total yards and 2 rushing touchdowns.

“That first drive of the second half really got things going for us … offensively we were starting to move the ball, the passing game was getting a little more on target, so you know and our run game was able to bounce off that as well, so I think that drive was really big,” Coach Cusumano said.

Savariego also had a 22-yard rushing touchdown early in the fourth quarter which moved the score to 42-6, following the made PAT.

Sr. wide receiver Dylan Hutchinson was one of the many who contributed to Valley’s win on the offensive end, bringing in 4 receptions for 79 yards and a receiving touchdown off the pass from Sr. quarterback Ethan Silcher.

Pascack Valley will face off against Ramsey On Friday, October 29th at 6.p.m. in Ramsey.
