The Pascack Valley Football Team suffered a tough loss to Northern Highlands, in Allendale on Friday night. Although a late fourth quarter touchdown by PV running back Quinn Flanagan lowered the Highlanders lead to 24-6, Highlands retaliated with a long drive that ended with a score for the Highlanders, putting them up 31-6 and squandering any opportunity for Valley to come back.

The Valley defense came to play on the first drive of the game, holding the Highlanders to a field goal.

However, the powerful Northern Highlands offense overcame their first drive struggles and put the pedal to the metal, going up 17-0 at the end of the first half. Touchdowns from Nathan Johnson and Charlie Sparago allowed the Highlanders to take a commanding lead over the Panthers.

Big plays on the defensive end from Brandon Flanagan, Colin Foley, and Joey Von Tobel allowed Valley to stay in the game despite multiple scoring opportunities for Highlands.

Valley’s offensive struggles continued; however some bright spots were found with a few strong connections between Jake Crawbuck and Conor Higgins. At times, Quinn Flanagan, along with Kevin Regula had success on the ground.

Late in the third quarter, Valley’s senior defensive end and offensive tackle Brandon Flanagan suffered a knee injury that sidelined him for the rest of the game.

A 68-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter solidified Highlands’s lead over Valley, as they continuing to dominate Valley’s defense.

Valley’s fan base showed out in Allendale tonight, cheering for Valley till the very end.

With this loss, Valley falls to 0-4 on the season and looks to erase the 0 in the win column against Demarest next Saturday at 2 p.m at Pascack Valley.
