Alex Lin shoots a free throw during a game last year. Lin will likely be the offensive focal point for Valley this season.

 Head Coach: Al Coleman

Last year’s record: 13-14

Key Returners: Alex Lin (Sr., C), Justin Schaumberger (Sr., PG)

Key Losses: The team has no key losses from a season ago, according to Coach Coleman.

Key Newcomers: While the majority of the team will consist of new players to the Varsity level, Coleman solely mentioned Matt Harris (Sr., G).

Strength of team: Coleman thinks that his team is an extremely close knit group. He believes that his players are great individuals on and off the floor, and they understand that the team’s accomplishments are more important than anyone’s individual agendas.

Weakness of team: PV doesn’t have many players who played significant minutes from a year ago, so a lack of experience is likely Valley’s biggest weakness. Other than Lin and Schaumberger, nobody else really played a role at the Varsity level last year, and this could potentially set the Indians back.

Outlook: Coleman did not mention any goals he has for his team this year, in terms of wins and losses. All he wants from his players is for them to play hard, and compete in each and every game.

Coach’s Comment: “Our expectations are to compete and get better everyday, both individually and as a group,” Coleman said.
