On Wednesday afternoon, five Pascack Valley seniors took part in a National Signing Day ceremony in the auditorium. Boys lacrosse player Zach Olson, girls basketball player Brianna Smith, girls swimmer Haleigh Marzano, wrestler Matt Beyer, and baseball player Justin Martin were the student-athletes who participated in the event.

“I think it’s wonderful that you can celebrate all that they’ve accomplished here at Pascack Valley, and also celebrate what they’re about to accomplish as they move on to college,” said Pascack Valley Athletic Director Shawn Buchanan.

As for where these athletes committed, Olson will attend St. John’s University, Smith will attend Bloomsburg University, Marzano will attend Lafayette College, Beyer will attend Ithaca College, and Martin will attend Sacred Heart University.

During the ceremony, the student-athletes took pictures along with their coaches and parents, first as a large group and later individually.

“I really enjoyed the event and was thrilled to see all the coaches, athletes, and parents come together,” Beyer said. “It’s really cool to see kids from very different sports continue competing in college.”

Another signing ceremony will take place in the spring for other PV student-athletes who commit between now and then.

Buchanan was very proud of all the work these student-athletes have put in, and was happy to see that their efforts have paid off.

“Today is a nice day to reflect, and also to look forward,” he said.
