This past Saturday, the Pascack Valley bowling team participated in the Bergen county tournament, and the Indians finished third in their group and fifth overall.

Fair Lawn won its second consecutive county title, finishing ahead of second place Indian Hills.

“We individually all had some really good games, but we just did not string them together for a 1,000 or more game score,” said PV coach Judy Lucia. “Our team average was around 195. Typically, it has been higher than that during the first half of the season. I told [the team] they can feel disappointed, but not defeated. A lot of great games are yet to be bowled by us this season.”

As a team, Valley bowled a 2899 in their morning games before qualifying for the afternoon session, in which they scored a 2855. In total, the Indians scored a 5754 over the course of the six games. Trevor Lauber bowled the highest game in the morning with a 240 and Brian Biml lead the team in the afternoon with a score of 234.

“We didn’t accomplish what we wanted to as a team but we still had a respectable finish,” said senior Jake Murad.

The Indians’ last win in the county tournament was back in 2016, but Valley still has a chance to avenge a previous defeat in the upcoming state sectional tournament. PV finished in second place in that tournament a season ago.
