PV Student Publication takes home Overall Online Excellence among 52 awards

Co-Editor in Chief Spencer Goldstein named NJ High School Journalist of the Year

Members of the PV Student Publication 2019-2020 Editorial Board at last year’s Garden State Scholastic Press Association conference. The publication won 52 awards, including 24 honorable mentions in the GSSPA annual award contest for last school year.

The PV Student Publication won 28 individual awards and 24 honorable mentions in the 2019-2020 Garden State Scholastic Press Association annual award contest. The awards were announced virtually via Instagram livestream Thursday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. The publication was presented first place in three main publication awards in Division B: Overall Online Excellence, Special Pandemic Coverage, and Distinguished Print Journalism. This is the publication’s fourth year in a row as the recipient of the Overall Online Excellence award. Co-Editor in Chief Spencer Goldstein was also announced as the NJ High School Journalist of the Year and recipient of the Bernard Kilgore Memorial Scholarship. 

GSSPA President and PV Student Publication advisor Bill Rawson was joined by GSSPA student leaders Nia Watson, Sarah Fajardo, and Rebecca Mastropasqua. PVSP Staff Editor Abby Shapiro and former Co-Editor in Chief Rachel Cohen joined Rawson as well. The livestream was joined by nearly 50 viewers and lasted for about an hour and a half.
