Pascack Valley defeated Teaneck with a score of 40-12 on Saturday night at 6 p.m in Teaneck. Valley responded to setbacks and kept their momentum into halftime with a big play from Nick Savariego.

Late in the first half, Savariego had a 51 yard rushing touchdown which brought the score to 33-6, carrying Valley’s momentum into the second half.

Teaneck received the kickoff first, and drove down the field and scored, taking a 6-0 lead . Teaneck’s wide receiver Sebastian Jusma had two catches that drive, one of them being the touchdown.

Valley’s frustrations were shown, however they were able to calm their emotions. Leadership, shown by team captains Steven Dembowski and Nick Messina, helped the team stay focused and locked in.

Messina took a role in leading the team off the field, however he did not play in Saturday’s game due to a tweaked knee that occurred last Friday night in a loss to Ramapo.

“We were just limiting him and being cautious, but he is okay. He will be ready for next week,” Coach Cusumano said when asked about Messina not playing.

Several players stepped up to fill Messina’s role, including Nick Savariego who had 3 touchdowns, 114 rushing yards, and 13 receiving yards.

In addition to Savariego’s play at the end of the first half, he also made a toe-tapping catch near the edge of the endzone.

Here are his thoughts on the game and the catch.

Dylan Hutchinson, finished with 1 touchdown and 170 yards. Hutchinson has played in all three games, having a total of 4 touchdowns on the season.

He also had some thoughts on the game.

Sophomore Owen Deady scored his first touchdown of the season and of his Varsity Career.

Valley’s defense stayed strong for the majority of the game, only allowing scores on the first and last drives of the game.

Delaware football commit, captain, and starting offensive lineman, Steven Dembowski continued to allow time for Ethan Silcher to throw.

Silcher finished with 183 passing yards and 2 touchdowns, however he was limited to one half, as Junior Jake Crawbuck finished the game at quarterback.

“Teaneck came out throwing the ball very well and moving the football and our boys did a great job coming back,” Coach Cusumano said.
