Casey Lewis’s documentary “Pay It Forward,” was the last film to be shown yesterday, June 6, at The Smoke Signal’s third annual film festival. His film is about Zack Latteri, a student in the class of 2018 who lost his battle to leukemia.

“Zack was a very good friend of mine and we all miss him a lot,” Lewis said. “I thought that this would be a great way to remember him and carry on his legacy so future students at Pascack Valley would be able to hear his story.”

The film festival was organized by Kayla Barry, Olivia Stabile, and Sofia Hassan, and emceed by Olivia Stabile. 

It featured films by PV students, such as Evan Liu’s “A Dribble and a Dream” and Ari Quinn’s “How Far I’ll Go.” Those films were made by students in Mr. Michael Sherman’s video production class, but some, like Shawn Rowan’s “Space Oddity Chapter 1: A Strange Encounter” and Chandni Shah’s “The Untold Story,” were senior projects.
