Boys Basketball at Demarest | Loss, 52-38

After a brief winning streak, the Boys Basketball Team fell short to Demarest on Tuesday. Still, Dante DaCosta (Sr.) put up 17 points in the effort.

Girls Basketball vs. Demarest | Loss, 54-21

Like the boys, girls basketball lost to Demarest, breaking a two-game winning streak.

Boys Bowling vs. Old Tappan | Win, 5-2

The PV Boys Bowling Team continued its dominant season with its second win over Old Tappan. Tommy Magarelli (Sr.) and Evan Przebieglec (Jr.) both averaged 221 during their three games.

Girls Bowling vs. Old Tappan | Loss, 7-0

An outnumbered Girls Bowling Team fell to Old Tappan on Tuesday. Luli SooHoo (Jr.) still averaged 139, matching OT’s high average.

Wednesday, January 21

Wrestling at Don Bosco | Loss, 39-27

12 meets into the season, Don Bosco handed PV its first loss as the team moved to 11-1. Lukas Van Veen (Sr.), Alex Bainbridge (Sr.), Gavin Stempkowski (So.), Jacob Inserra (So.), Dylan Biegel (Sr.), and Luke Stempkowski (Jr.) all picked up wins in the match.

Thursday, January 22

Boys Basketball vs. Old Tappan | Win, 48-46

PV held a narrow victory over Old Tappan on Thursday as the team evened its record to 8-8. Liam Higgins (Sr.) scored 20 points, and Eli Tenzer (Sr.) scored 14 in the win.

Girls Basketball at Old Tappan | Win, 48-46

The Girls Basketball Team fell short to Old Tappan by just two points. Raina Gibbs (Jr.) scored 23 points in the loss.

Boys Bowling vs. Tenafly | Win, 7-0

Brett Fischbein (Jr.) averaged 245 in another dominant victory by PV Bowling. The team is now 11-0 this season.

Girls Bowling vs. Tenafly | Loss, 7-0

Girls bowling moves to 0-10 after another loss to Tenafly. The team has two games left this season.

Saturday, January 24

Boys Basketball at Saddle River Day | Win, 52-43

Boys basketball got its ninth win of the season, moving to 9-8. With the win, Valley has now won four of its last five games.

Girls Basketball vs. Fair Lawn | Win, 50-33

PV Girls Basketball defeated Fair Lawn. Raina Gibbs (Jr.) scored 16 points; Alex Kesselman (Sr.) scored 7 points. Valley had a dominant first quarter, outscoring Fair Lawn by 11.

Boys Bowling – Bergen County Tournament

PV Bowling won the Bergen County 1-2 Tournament by 41 pins, with North Arlington coming in second place. Tommy Magarelli (Sr.) bowled a perfect game, leading PV to the win.

Pascack Hockey vs. Old Tappan | Win, 4-1

Pascack Hockey completed the sweep of Old Tappan with a dominant win. Jack Sheehan (Sr.) led the team with 2 goals in the first period. Joe Maire (Jr.) added 2 assists.

Wrestling vs. Northern Highlands | Win, 50-30

PV Wrestling gets back on track after its first loss of the season with a win over Northern Highlands. The team moves to 12-1. In the win, Valley had six pins.

Zander Karalewich is a junior at Pascack Valley High School and Editor-in-Chief of The Valley Echo. This is his third year with the student newspaper, where he previously served as a Staff Editor. Zander enjoys writing feature articles and school news for the paper. In addition to his role with The Echo, Zander is a member of Peer Leaders and an active member of clubs like This Week in Politics, Investment, and History, and plays golf for PV. He is also an event photographer for various publications.

Nathan Faber, Sports Editor

As a junior, Nathan Faber has been a member of The Valley Echo for two years and is now a Sports Editor. He has always enjoyed writing for the paper, and enjoys reading articles on football, basketball, and baseball. He has been on the Varsity Tennis Team since his freshman year. He is also a member of the Chess Club, Bee Club, This Week in Politics, and Habitat for Humanity. In his free time, he enjoys watching sports, playing tennis, and golf. He hopes to continue writing more articles this year.
