Boys Soccer players celebrate a goal during 2-1 win against Newton

Monday, November 3

VOLLEYBALL STATES VS. VERNON | Win 3-0

Volleyball defeated No. 11 Vernon in three sets in the first round of the NJSIAA states tournament. No. 6 Valley was led by 14 kills from Riley Hirsch (Sr.) and 25 digs by Maddy Romero (Sr.).

Tuesday, November 4

BOYS SOCCER STATES VS. NEWTON | Win 2-1

No. 6 Valley defeated No. 11 Newton in the first round of the NJSIAA states tournament with goals by Adrian Cano (Sr.) and Miles Kutner (So.).

Wednesday, November 5

GIRLS SOCCER STATES VS. RIVER DELL | Win 5-0

No. 2 Girls Soccer defeated No. 15 River Dell in a blowout win in the first round of the NJSIAA states tournament. Allie Polyniak (Sr.) scored twice with an assist in the win. Maddie Wu (Jr.), Avery Stein (Jr.), and Stella Vasallo (Jr.) also scored.

VOLLEYBALL STATES @ DEMAREST | Loss 3-0

Valley’s season came to an end with a 3-0 loss to Demarest in the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA states tournament. No. 3 Demarest ended up moving all the way to the finals and will face No. 1 River Dell on Tuesday.

Friday, November 7

BOYS SOCCER STATES @ WEST MILFORD | Loss 3-2

Boys Soccer was defeated by No. 3 West Milford in a close match, ending Valley’s season. Adrian Cano (Sr.) and Lucas Mercado (Jr.) scored in the close effort.

Saturday, November 8

GIRLS SOCCER STATES VS. SPARTA | Win 1-0

Girls Soccer closely defeated No. 7 Sparta in the quarterfinals of states. Lucy Smith (So.) scored the lone goal, and goalkeeper Gabby Velecela (Jr.) recorded a five-save shutout. Valley will face No. 3 Vernon in the semifinals on Wednesday at home.

Zander Karalewich is a junior at Pascack Valley High School and Editor-in-Chief of The Valley Echo. This is his third year with the student newspaper, where he previously served as a Staff Editor. Zander enjoys writing feature articles and school news for the paper. In addition to his role with The Echo, Zander is a member of Peer Leaders and an active member of clubs like This Week in Politics, Investment, and History, and plays golf for PV. He is also an event photographer for various publications.

Nathan Faber, Sports Editor

As a junior, Nathan Faber has been a member of The Valley Echo for two years and is now a Sports Editor. He has always enjoyed writing for the paper, and enjoys reading articles on football, basketball, and baseball. He has been on the Varsity Tennis Team since his freshman year. He is also a member of the Chess Club, Bee Club, This Week in Politics, and Habitat for Humanity. In his free time, he enjoys watching sports, playing tennis, and golf. He hopes to continue writing more articles this year.
