Girls Basketball vs Bergenfield | Valley 59  – Bergenfield 22

The girls basketball team started off their week against Bergenfield in a head-to-head league matchup. Valley was able to defeat Bergenfield pretty handedly, limiting the Bears to just 22 points. Jules Vassallo led Valley with 22 points.

Boys Basketball vs Bergenfield | Valley  – Bergenfield 

The boys basketball team faced Bergenfield on their senior night which honored Valley’s only senior Ethan Silcher. The finish of the game matched the energy and excitement that revolved around the day, as Valley defeated Bergenfield by 3 points, much thanks to Ethan Silcher’s clutch free throws which sealed the game for Valley.


2/16 Wednesday

Ice Hockey: Varsity Big North Tournament vs. Ramsey | Pascack 6 – Ramsey 1

In the semifinals of the Silver Cup, the Pascack Ice Hockey team defeated Ramsey by a score of 6-1, with help from Max Richards and Erik Wrynn who each scored 2 goals. Aidan Rybacki also tallied 38 saves. Valley moved to play first-seeded Lakeland in the final.

Boys Basketball vs Teaneck | Valley 61  – Teaneck 69

Following the team’s win on senior night against Bergenfield, they traveled to face a tough Teaneck team. Despite a great effort from Valley, they fell 69-61. With this loss they moved to 9-9.

Girls Basketball vs Teaneck | Valley – Teaneck

The girls basketball team also faced a tough Teaneck team and fell 55-49. Jules Vassallo led Valley with 17 points while Lindsay Jennings and Tori Criscuolo both had 8 points.

2/18 Friday

Ice Hockey: Varsity Big North Championship vs. Lakeland | Pascack 3 – Lakeland 2

The Pascack Ice Hockey team pulled it out and defeated first-seeded Lakeland in the Silver Cup finals. Freshman Tyler Rothstein won the game for Pascack just 34 seconds after Lakeland equalized in the third period, allowing Pasack to keep hold of the lead for the remaining 4 minutes. The last time Valley won the Silver Cup was in 2004, so the win was a big boost for their upcoming state tournament. The team faces Fairlawn in their first round of the state tournament.

Wrestling: Varsity Districts

The wrestling team had a very successful trip to Riverdell as Drew Pettacia, Ray Kohan and Justin Amato all placed first in their respective weight classes while Noah Martin secured second and Antonio Cedeno secured third.

Girls Basketball vs Fort Lee | Valley 66 – Fort Lee 25

The girls basketball team faced Fort Lee on Monday and beat them convincingly. Jules Vassallo knocked down 6 three-pointers and finished with 22 points. Celina Bussanich also contributed 12 points to Valley’s dominant win.


2/22 Tuesday

Girls Basketball vs Wayne Hills| Valley – Wayne Hills

The girls basketball team went back-to-back over the President’s day long weekend and won both games. Despite a slow start from Valley, they picked it up in the second half, and defeated Wayne Hills by 18. Jules Vassallo led all scorers however Sabrina Hirsch’s efforts on areas outside of the stat sheet were felt by the whole team.

Ice Hockey vs. Fair Lawn| Pascack 5 – Fair Lawn 0

The Pascack ice hockey team defeated Fair Lawn in the first round of their state tournament. Freshman Hunter Goodman scored his first goal of his varsity career. The team looks to continue their winning ways in future rounds and looks to make a push for that sectional title.
