The girls lacrosse team work to get a ground ball. Coach Velez thinks the team needs to mesh its talent in order to be successful this year.

Head coach: Melissa Velez (16th Season, 14th as Head Coach)

Last year’s record: 14-3

Key returnees:  Defenders: Celina Bussanich (Jr.), Olivia Glasser (Jr.), Riley Hirsch (So.), Margo Perlman (So.)

Attackers: Courtney Pellison (Jr.), Ella Saxon (Jr.), Jenna Reinhart (So.), and Mia Boretti (So.)

Key losses: Morgan Jones, Bella Alepa and Jayden Rosenthal

Key newcomers: “I have a great group of sophomores that didn’t get a ton of time last year that I’m looking forward to seeing and hoping they can get a lot more time this year,” Velez said.

Strengths of team: “[We are] willing to do whatever it takes to win,” Velez said. “ I’ve had teams that are skilled individually but when we get on the field they weren’t always working together and this group does a really good job at working really hard on the field and doing whatever it takes to win.”

Outlook:  “We took a huge jump in conference so we are going to play a much harder schedule than last year,” Velez said. “The girls [and]  I have are looking forward to  the higher competition and the better conference so I’m hoping we can just compete and fight in every game.”

Coach’s comment: “I hope that people come out and support the team and I hope these girls can get the support they deserve,” Velez said.
