Sports Nightly Wrap-Up: April 5, 2016

Boys Lacrosse: Game at Pascack Hills High School

Pascack Valley 15, Pascack Hills 7

The Indians improved to 3-0 on the year with their win over the rival Cowboys in the first annual Pascack Lacrosse charity game. It’s the third time in three games the Indians have scored double digit goals. It also marked the first time this season that the Indians did not lead after one quarter of play. Tied at 2 entering the second, the Indians struck for nine unanswered goals. PV’s goals came from Jimmy Spillane (5), Conor Kimball (4),  Jack Smolen (2), Mike Soravilla (2), Nick Stevens, and Keith Doherty.

Golf: Match against Bergenfield @ Knickerbocker Country Club, Tenafly. 

PV 171, Bergenfield 220

PV’s first match of the year turned out to be a sizable win. Will Gallagher shot a 40, Calvin Ralph shot a 42, Rob Carcich shot a 44 and Tyler Farrell shot a 45. Included in Ralph’s 42 was an eagle on the 518 yard par 5 second hole.

Baseball: Postponed

The baseball team has not played since Friday of last week, when the Indians opened their season with a 4-2 loss against Old Tappan. Yesterday’s game against against Bergenfield was postponed.

Next Game: Wednesday against Northern Valley Demarest (Home Opener)

Tennis: postponed

The tennis team has yet to play a match this season, as the three scheduled matches have been postponed due to weather related issues.

Girls Lacrosse: Game at Pascack Valley vs. Roxbury

Pascack Valley 8, Roxbury 6

The girls lacrosse team lifted its record to 2-1 after beating Roxbury. In a game that was very back and forth, the Indians solidified the win in the final minutes of the game. Goals from Katie Gallagher with four, Natalie Bade with two, and Ana Beyer and Jenny LaRocca each with one.

Softball: Game at Bergenfield vs. Bergenfield

Pascack Valley 16, Bergenfield 5

In the game that was originally scheduled for Monday, the Indians shined, forcing the game to the mercy rule. The team recovered from Friday’s loss against Old Tappan to move on to 1-1 for this season. Senior Nicole Dehn pitched the first five innings and was then replaced by freshman Julia Spadafino. In the field, there were some errors, but the errors were made up by the solid hitting shown by the team.
